Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

As we age, the fat pads which create fullness for youthful appearance will be lost, and certain areas like face and hands will start to appear dull and shapeless. Dermal fillers are the best way to fill up the lost fat pads to reshape the area. There are various types of fillers, including ones own fat. Knowing which filler is to be used, when & how to use them is the key to get the optimum results.

Frequently Asked Questions

We aim to assist our website visitors with a knowledgeable and comprehensive approach to resolve all your queries and fears with our FAQ section.

You should ask the following questions before getting a chemical peel

  • Will a qualified and professional dermatologist perform the chemical peel?
  • What will I need to do before and after the peel to get the optimum results?
  • What results can I expect?
  • What are the potential side effects?
  • Do I have a higher risk for any complications?
  • Will I have downtime?

Our skin loses its youthful fullness due to the aging process. Fillers help to restore the lost fullness of the face, lips, and hands.
There are also other uses of fillers like:

  • Restore fullness to cheeks, hollow areas under the eyes, and deep creases
  • Reduce or reshape the scars
  • Erase fine lines on the forehead
  • Plump Lips
  • Lift the brow or a downturned mouth
  • Shaping the hands

Fillers give an instant result with no downtime.

Usually, fillers are safe when administered by a qualified Dermatologist or Dermato-cosmetologist. But when injected in a non-medical setting can be extremely dangerous. For your safety, you should never get filler injected at a non-medical spa, party, salon or at home. You should know that filler treatment is completely a medical procedure. Dr. Sudha Vani at Sri Skin and Cosmetology Centre with 19 years of experience in the field of Cosmetology and Dermatology has the right expertise for the job. The results you see depend mainly on the expertise of the person performing this procedure. A dermatologist has the wisdom and experience required to inject fillers safely and effectively.

The procedure result depends on the amount of the filler used, the part of the body to be treated, and your medical history. Usually, most filler treatments take between 15 and 30 minutes and require one visit only.

We may apply an anesthetic to the skin or sometimes nerve block of the area to be given before fillers. Hands, usually do not need anesthesia; lips often need a nerve block. We will inject the filler into the area, sometimes, giving several injections to produce optimum results. You may feel a stinging or burning sensation as the filler is injected.

Yes, sometimes we use your own fat as a filler. First, we remove a little bit of fat by a procedure called tumescent liposuction, which safely removes a small amount of fat from another area of your body. The fat extracted from your body is then prepared so that it can be introduced into the area that needs more fullness.

We will do a thorough examination of you before giving treatment, but you should tell everything about your medical history before the procedure especially if you have any of the following:

  • Allergies
  • Cold sore breakouts
  • Heart condition
  • Past cosmetic treatment (mention other injections and implants, if any)
  • Bleeding disorder
  • When you are on Aspirin or Ibuprofen

After receiving filler injections, some patients have minor, temporary side effects like:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising (occasionally)
  • Mild pain

These side effects tend to fade away within 7 to 14 days.

  • We may apply ice to the treated area after the procedure
  • You should refrain until the next day to exercise or do any other strenuous activity
  • You should avoid exposure to the sun
  • Avoid applying cosmetics and touching the area for three days
  • One filler, poly-L-lactic acid, requires you to gently massage the operated area for about 5 minutes, several times in a day for 1 to 2 weeks.

Mostly these fillers offer instant results. The filler also can spur your body to produce more collagen, but this takes time.

Most fillers offer interim results and require multiple treatment sessions to maintain the results.
Fillers last for 3 months to 3 years depending on the type of the filler used.

No. Actually, temporary fillers offer one key advantage as Fillers can be injected as needed to replace lost fullness. This is advantageous because no matter what we do, our skin continues to age.

We at Sri Skin and Cosmetology Centre use best fillers for optimum results and our chief consultant Dr.Sudha Vani has 19 years of experience in Dermato-Cosmetology.
