Laser resurfacing is a procedure that helps reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and other skin irregularities such as blemishes and scars. The lasers are used to direct short and concentrated pulsating beams of light at irregular skin, precisely removing the skin layer by layer. This procedure is also called lasabrasion, laser peel, or laser vaporization. Sri Skin and Cosmetology Centre have the best world-class lasers for the job.

The two most commonly used lasers in laser resurfacing procedure are carbon dioxide (CO2) and erbium. Each laser work by vaporizing the damaged skin cells at the surface level. We use state of the art CO2 laser for optimum results.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing
The latest version of CO2 laser resurfacing also known as fractionated CO2 utilizes short pulsed light energy (known as ultra pulse) or continuous light beams that are given in a scanning pattern to eliminate thin layers of the skin with minimal damage. Recovery may take up to two weeks.
The procedural session normally takes about 30 to 45 minutes. A full-face treatment takes up to two hours.
Following the laser procedure, starting 24 hours after treatment, you will need to clean the treated area four to five times a day. Then you'll need to apply an ointment, such as petroleum jelly, to prevent scabs from forming. This wound care is intended to prevent any scab formation. Usually, the treated area heals in 10 to 21 days, depending on the condition.
It is completely normal to experience swelling after laser skin resurfacing session. Sleeping with an extra pillow to elevate your head may help reduce swelling. Putting an ice pack on the treated area also helps to reduce swelling in the first 24 to 48 hours after laser resurfacing.
You may feel itching or sting for 12 to 72 hours after the procedure. Five to seven days after getting the laser resurfacing done, your skin might become dry and starts to peel. Once the healing is completed, one can wear oil-free makeup to reduce redness, which normally fades in 2-3 months.
You must avoid excessive sun exposure and use the sunscreens prescribed by Dr. Sudha Vani. She may also prescribe a moisturizer which you have to use as per the instructions
Redness in the treated sites generally lessens in two to three months. The intensity of redness depends on your skin type. Using a bleaching agent before and after laser skin resurfacing may minimize that - as well as strict sun avoidance and use of daily broad-spectrum sunscreen.
