PRP or platelet-rich plasma uses your own blood platelets to stimulate hair growth where you are experiencing baldness. It also thickens your existing hair. It is a well-known fact that platelet-rich plasma helps our body recover from injuries, we use that power of PRP to promote hair growth when follicles are present. These quick and affordable injections take just a few minutes and don't require any downtime.

A small collection of your own blood is collected and then spun in a centrifuge, which separates it into layers of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. The platelet-rich plasma is extracted and is then injected back into the areas that needs treatment.

It is very important to differentiate the types of baldness before performing the procedure, as only certain types of hair loss like androgenetic alopecia and alopecia areata, respond to this treatment. Doing PRP inappropriately will lead to poor results and, perhaps of more importance, be a waste of your money. Dr. Sudha Vani has got vast experience in dealing with this problem, and it will be a wise decision to consult an experienced dermato-cosmetologist like Dr. Sudha Vani for the hair loss.

PRP promotes hair growth when follicles are present. People with extreme hair loss or non-existent follicles are not candidates. For this reason, prior assessment by a dermato-cosmetologist is essential.
While PRP is considered safe for most people, it’s not recommended for anyone who has one of the following medical conditions:

  • Hepatitis C
  • HIV or AIDS
  • Any type of blood cancer
  • Cardiovascular disease, which requires taking a blood thinner
  • Skin cancer in the area to be treated

These conditions affect your platelets, making them unable to deliver the expected results.

PRP may also speed up wound healing. We also use PRP for younger-looking skin and to reverse signs of aging.PRP can:

  • Reduce wrinkles
  • Plump up sagging skin
  • Decreases deep creases
  • Improve one’s complexion
  • Diminish acne scars

You may have a bit of pain, bruising, and, swelling afterward. These tend to go away within a few days.

Results may be seen within a few weeks to months, and the upshot can last as long as 18 months.
